Why are you in healthcare?
As a small child, I lived on a remote mission station in Kenya. There was clinic run by a Registered Nurse named Millie Reimann. I loved going to the clinic each day and “helping” her with all the patients. I am sure I wasn’t much help, but she was so patient that I knew my calling was nursing. Even though I don’t do direct patient care today, I am still passionate about helping people when they are experiencing illness, pain, or just overwhelmed navigating the healthcare system.
What do you love most about your job?
I love working with our physician practices helping them navigate and embrace our new world of value-based care. I particularly enjoy helping our clients incorporate ways to make the workflow more efficient, improve patient outcomes and continuity of care.
Best career advice you’ve ever received?
Really from my Dad who believed in me and constantly told me I could achieve any of my dreams. His counsel: dream big and persevere to make it happen. He used to say the dream doesn’t change but the way you get there will.
Favorite charities or causes?
Wounded Warriors, Cotes Du Couer, American Heart Association, Compassion International and a few other smaller organizations that work with orphans.
You’re off the clock. Where can we find you?
I’m a “Foodie”. I love trying new foods and learning how to cook them. I also love tasting wines from around the world. I really enjoy traveling to different countries and learning about local customs and culture. Recently, my husband and I have been exploring these great United States. I am amazed at the beauty and diversity of our country. Finally, I am a power walker and an avid reader.
What are the top 3 items on your “bucket list”?
- Visit East Africa with my children and grandchildren sharing my heritage, and climb Mt Kilimanjaro with them.
- Take an RV trip through all of the western states ending up in Alaska
- Sail in a Catamaran around the French Polynesian Islands
You get to have dinner with any three people to have ever lived. Who do you invite?
- My great grandfather
- Charles Andrews, because he lived in Israel as it was becoming a nation-state.
- Barbara Bush
