They gave me the shirt off their back
Daniel Murphy, MDOrthopedic Medicine
A graduate of the University of Florida College of Medicine, Dr. Murphy is Board Certified in Orthopaedic Surgery. His practice, Tampa Orthopaedic and Sports Medicine Group, was founded in 1949. Dr. Murphy has been honored with awards for recognition, appreciation and dedication for his work as Vice-Chief of Surgery (2005-2006) and Chief of Surgery (2007-2008) at Memorial Hospital. He has also been featured in Florida Super Doctors.
To make the transition to a paperless chart system, Dr. Murphy chose the Aprima system because of the versatility of the system. “Instead of having set templates we could customize to fit our own workflow, with customized common problem palates,” says Dr. Murphy.
One of the benefits of implementing Aprima has been new efficiency in charting. “At the end of the day I’m completely finished charting,” says Dr. Murphy, “the peace of mind I get knowing my charts are accurate, and that my documentation and coding levels are accurate is worth a lot.” This peace of mind is especially important with increasing risk of audit.
Sometimes you hear companies claim they will give you the shirt off their back, as the saying goes. Talk is cheap, actions count. The day Dr. Murphy was to have his portrait taken for this story, he was wearing scrubs. His sales rep, Jon Carlson happened to be checking in on things at the practice and they traded shirts. “Dr. Murphy is such a great guy, we’d all do anything for him. Plus, I got some cool scrubs out of the deal!” says Carlson.
Dr. Murphy chose DAS because of the local customer service. He says, “One of the most important things to ask is are you going to get the service you expect? Especially at the beginning when you are going from a paper system to a paperless system. You need good support. You want to choose a company that is responsive, that is going to be there for you. That’s why we chose DAS.”
Tampa Orthopaedic and Sports Medicine Group was converted to Aprima from Allscripts - Misys Tiger practice management system.
